IUB team wins disaster management competition

Team Bhumikompo from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) won the Poster Presentation segment at the Disaster Management Exercise 4.0 in October 2025. The competition, organized by the BUP Disaster Management Forum, gathered students from across Bangladesh to showcase innovative disaster management solutions.

The IUB team, made up of Farhan Sadeque, Rukhsar Anwar, and Limia Nawer, presented an “IoT-Based Centralized Earthquake Response and Recovery Platform for Bangladesh.” The platform uses IoT for seismic data collection, AI for damage assessment, and blockchain for resource transparency, enabling faster, coordinated responses during earthquakes.

Their interdisciplinary approach combined engineering and environmental sciences, highlighting IUB’s focus on practical, research-driven solutions for disaster resilience.
