James Anderson signs Lancashire extension to 2026
James Anderson, England’s all-time leading wicket-taker, will continue his career beyond his 44th birthday by signing a contract extension with Lancashire for 2026. After retiring from international cricket in 2024, Anderson agreed to a one-year deal for the 2025 season.
He impressed in the County Championship, taking 17 wickets in six matches, and also excelled in T20 cricket, claiming 20 wickets in Lancashire’s run to Blast finals day. He captained Lancashire in the County Championship, a role he may resume in 2026.
Anderson’s new deal will extend his career to 25 years, having made his debut in 2001. He will turn 44 in July next year.
