Japan stuns Brazil 3-2 for first-ever win over them

Japan stunned Brazil 3-2 in a friendly in Tokyo on Tuesday, securing their first-ever win over the South American giants after 14 attempts.

Brazil dominated the first half with goals from Luiz Henrique and Gabriel Martinelli, showing the form they displayed in their 5-0 win over South Korea. However, Japan bounced back after the break with goals from Takumi Minamino, Keito Nakamura, and Ayase Ueda, thrilling the 45,000-strong crowd.

It was Brazil’s second loss under coach Carlo Ancelotti, following a 1-0 defeat to Bolivia in World Cup qualifying. Despite missing key players like Kaoru Mitoma and Wataru Endo, Japan capitalized on defensive mistakes, with Nakamura’s deflected goal and Ueda’s header securing the win.
