Muthusamy spins South Africa towards victory in thrilling Test against Pakistan
The first Test between Pakistan and South Africa in Lahore is heading for a nail-biting finish after a dramatic day three dominated by spinners.
Senuran Muthusamy took a career-best 10-wicket match haul to bowl Pakistan out for 167 in their second innings, setting South Africa a target of 277. Muthusamy’s 5-57, along with Simon Harmer’s 4-51, helped Pakistan collapse from 150-4 to losing their last six wickets for just 17 runs.
However, Noman Ali kept Pakistan’s hopes alive with two quick wickets, leaving South Africa at 51-2 by stumps, needing another 226 runs. Ryan Rickelton and Tony de Zorzi remain at the crease, with Pakistan needing eight wickets to take a 1-0 series lead.
Muthusamy had earlier dismissed Pakistan’s top order, and Noman added a brilliant 6-112 in the first innings. With the pitch turning heavily, Pakistan’s spinners will fancy their chances to close out the match.
