Julia Roberts recalls daughter’s reaction to Stand by Me

Julia Roberts recently shared how the 1986 classic Stand by Me impacted her daughter, Hazel, when she was younger. In an interview with The New York Times, Roberts recalled how Hazel, after watching the film, gave her phone to her and said, “I don’t want it.” Hazel explained that if the boys in the movie had phones, they wouldn’t have shared stories or gone on their adventure, emphasizing how phones can get in the way of meaningful conversations.

Roberts also spoke about her approach to managing her children’s use of technology at home, including rules like a charging station for phones and no phones at the table. Despite her kids growing up, she expressed gratitude for their continued understanding and respect.
