Karadjov vows zero tolerance for corruption in transport ministry
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Grozdan Karadjov, has asserted that rigged competitions and corruption have no place within his ministry. He made this declaration in response to parliamentary inquiries concerning alleged misconduct at the Executive Automobile Administration.
Minister Karadjov detailed the government’s response to a specific allegation, explaining that an internal investigation in July found no evidence of leaked exams for inspector candidates. However, after receiving a new, detailed report in October, he immediately forwarded the case to the prosecutor’s office. He also initiated an independent inspection by the Ministry’s own inspectorate, with results expected to be made public. All employees implicated in the allegations have been suspended from competitive and control duties pending the outcome.
Karadjov further announced a contract with the non-governmental organization Transparency without Borders to act as an external auditor. He stated that his ministry is actively working to eradicate entrenched corruption, a policy he suggested has prompted increased attacks against him and the agency’s management.
