Kiselova quits as parliament turmoil grows
Natalia Kiselova stepped down from her position as National Assembly speaker on Wednesday. She told BNT that politicians must serve citizens who participated in elections and those who stayed home, noting that five years of political instability have revealed poor coalition-building skills. Raya Nazaryan from GERB-SDF assumed control of parliamentary proceedings immediately after the announcement.
Coalition partners from GERB-SDF, BSP-United Left, and There Is Such a People agreed on Tuesday to rotate the speaker position every 10 months. Kiselova said her Bulgarian Socialist Party group demonstrated responsibility at critical moments for the nation. She characterized her departure as an example of accountability in shared governance.
