KKDW focuses on rural development with RM12.4 billion in Budget 2026
The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) will focus on rural development through Budget 2026, which allocates RM12.4 billion, a 3.69% increase from last year. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this funding will improve the well-being of rural communities through a holistic, inclusive approach.
Key areas of focus include strengthening rural infrastructure with RM3.3 billion for roads, clean water, electricity, and solar streetlights. Additionally, RM2.4 billion is allocated to support over 720,000 settlers and smallholders.
The budget also focuses on rural digital development, expanding 5G coverage, and encouraging young people and rural entrepreneurs to engage in the digital economy. Lastly, RM70 million is allocated for early childhood education, and RM412 million will support the welfare of the Orang Asli community.
