Kostadinov says government losing support

Bulgaria’s governing coalition has lost internal cohesion as coalition dynamics shift power balances, according to Vazrazhdane party leader Kostadin Kostadinov. Speaking during a radio interview on Sunday, he predicted the administration would collapse amid mounting economic pressures and characterized the 2026 fiscal framework as containing accounting maneuvers that obscure the true deficit scale.

Kostadinov suggested the actual shortfall approaches nine billion leva while authorities delay budget submission beyond the October 21 parliamentary deadline. He warned that transferring liabilities forward masks fiscal health to satisfy eurozone membership criteria, claiming the process has accumulated obligations potentially reaching 70 billion leva when indirect costs are calculated.

The opposition figure criticized legislative changes affecting Lukoil operations approved during a brief energy committee session on Friday, describing the action as an asset seizure. His party dispatched correspondence to Russian authorities while asserting that independent negotiations with American officials could have produced alternative outcomes similar to approaches taken by Germany and Hungary.
