KRG’s Runaki program to provide 24-hour power by 2026
Kurdistan’s Raparin power authority finished work needed to start delivering electricity around the clock to homes and businesses by late November. The effort supports the regional government’s Runaki program, which aims to ensure uninterrupted service across all areas by the end of 2026. Workers repaired transformers and improved distribution systems since September to prevent problems when winter arrives.
Teams will connect properties without meters and replace outdated equipment in the coming days. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani started the initiative in October 2024 to modernize infrastructure while reducing diesel generator pollution. The program advances environmental goals that the cabinet established on January 12, when officials adopted stronger oversight and alternative energy investments for Erbil and Duhok.
