Lawmakers mourn schoolgirl’s death after stabbing in Petaling Jaya
Today, members of the Dewan Rakyat observed a moment of silence after a 16-year-old girl was killed by a 14-year-old boy at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. PKR’s Bayan Baru MP, Sim Tze Tzin, shared news of the girl’s mother asking Malaysians to pray for her child. He then called on all MPs to take a short moment to meditate for the schoolgirl.
After the silence, Sim continued his debate on the proposed Budget 2026. He spoke about recent school incidents in places like Sabah, Melaka, Selangor, Kedah, and Perak, expressing his sadness. Sim suggested the Education Ministry reduce administrative tasks for teachers to help them focus on teaching and understanding students’ needs.
