Lawyer pleads for posthumous pardon for Col. Joseph Akaahan

A law professor, Sabastine Hon, SAN, has asked President Bola Tinubu to grant a full posthumous pardon to Col. Joseph Akaahan, a former Chief of Army Staff. Akaahan made great contributions to Nigeria’s army and died in a crash in 1967. Despite his service, he was dismissed from the army after his death because officials said he took an unauthorized trip. Hon has urged President Tinubu to use his powers to grant Akaahan the pardon, as other Nigerians were recently pardoned. This act would honor Akaahan’s service and bring joy to his family and Benue State.
