Malaysia busts Bangladeshi document forgery syndicate, three arrested in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia’s immigration officials have dismantled a Bangladeshi travel document forgery syndicate in Kuala Lumpur, arresting three suspects, including the alleged mastermind. The raid took place in the Jalan Jelawat area on Monday morning after two weeks of surveillance.
The suspects, aged between 25 and 31, included a man believed to be the ringleader, with the others holding various permits such as Temporary Employment Visit Passes and a student pass. Authorities seized 21 suspected fake Bangladeshi passports, one Myanmar passport, forged biodata pages, mobile phones, a computer, and a paper-cutting knife.
The syndicate used fake passports to allow ineligible foreign workers to undergo medical screenings required for employment. The group charged between RM200 and RM350 per forged document and had been active for two months. This marks the third arrest this year related to similar forgery tactics. The suspects are being investigated under the Immigration Act.
