Malaysia considers school closures as flu clusters spike in schools

The Ministry of Health (MOH) plans to discuss with the Ministry of Education (MOE) whether schools need to close due to rising influenza cases, particularly in schools and kindergartens. Health Minister Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad said any decision on school closures is up to the MOE, but the MOH advises students showing symptoms to stay home and follow health guidelines, including wearing masks and using hand sanitizer.

As of Epidemiological Week 40, there have been 97 influenza clusters, a significant rise from the previous week. Most cases were mild, and patients are encouraged to rest, hydrate, and follow safety measures. The clusters are concentrated in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and Kedah.
