Mandalay, Novosibirsk plot new deals over lunch

Leaders from Mandalay Region and Russia’s Novosibirsk province discussed strengthening partnerships across multiple sectors when they gathered at government offices on Wednesday. Chief Minister U Myo Aung hosted Governor Andrey Travnikov and his team for talks about advancing collaboration in education, health care, commerce and tourism. The officials reviewed a sister-city agreement linking their two metropolitan areas and outlined plans for economic projects scheduled between 2026 and 2028.

Representatives from both governments exchanged ceremonial presents following their discussions about building deeper international connections. The chief minister and the commander of Central Command later welcomed the visiting Russian delegation to a midday meal at IBIS Styles Hotel in Chanmyathazi Township.

The meetings focused on creating frameworks that would benefit residents of both regions through shared initiatives and expanded trade relationships. Officials expressed interest in maintaining regular communication as they work toward implementing the economic development programs outlined in their planning documents for the coming years.
