Mawarire accuses Moyo of plotting Mnangagwa term extension

Jealousy Mawarire, a former Zanu-PF member and opposition leader, accused Professor Jonathan Moyo of being part of a plot to remove Zimbabwe’s 2028 elections and extend President Mnangagwa’s rule. Mawarire claimed a document called “Breaking Barriers Initiative” suggests changing the constitution to allow the President to be chosen by Parliament, not voters. He said this change would keep Mnangagwa in power longer than allowed by law. Moyo denied the accusations, calling them false and part of a political smear campaign. He argued that such claims are a harmful part of Zimbabwe’s politics.
