Maya Manolova blasts Sofia paid parking hike
Sofia’s Municipal Council violated multiple regulations when approving expanded paid parking zones, according to civic platform Stand Up.BG leader Maya Manolova. She told bTV that officials failed to provide financial justification for the rate hikes and ignored proper procedures. The capital management group has collected nearly 40 million over 15 years without constructing new facilities, indicating that funds are being misappropriated.
Manolova argued that the zone expansion contradicts the stated goals of managing vehicle storage more effectively. She criticized the mayor’s administration for refusing to engage residents before implementing changes that will require thousands to pay for inadequate services. She urged officials to rescind the doubled rates and develop a solution through community consultation.
