MCMC to enforce Sovereign AI Cloud for data security after Anwar’s directive

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is moving fast to implement Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s order to boost the nation’s data security with the new Sovereign AI Cloud policy. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that the policy will roll out with the guidance of the National Security Council (MKN) and other key digital bodies, ensuring the country’s critical data is protected.

This initiative takes inspiration from international policies, including those in the US, aiming to strengthen the security of sensitive government information under the Official Secrets Act. Fahmi also stressed that the Sovereign AI Cloud will be vital in defending against cyber threats and keeping Malaysia’s digital governance secure.

On another note, Fahmi addressed the viral video of a gang rape case involving students in Melaka. He assured the public that MCMC would release a statement soon and warned against sharing illegal content online, reminding everyone that violations could lead to legal action.
