Metro line 3 closed Nov 8-9 for software update

Sofia’s Metro Line 3 will suspend service during the weekend to allow technicians to upgrade software and control systems at three newly constructed stations along Vladimir Vazov Boulevard. Transit authorities announced the closure will affect operations from Saturday through Sunday, with replacement bus service designated M3 running throughout both days.

The substitute buses will travel from Ovcha Kupel 2 residential district to Hadzhi Dimitar metro station beginning at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday and continuing until midnight on Sunday. Passengers heading toward Hadzhi Dimitar will board at the Ovcha Kupel 2 terminus and follow a route connecting multiple metro stations via President Lincoln Street, Montevideo Street, Ovcha Kupel Boulevard, Bulgaria Boulevard, and Vasil Levski Boulevard before reaching the final destination. Return trips will depart from stop code 0303 near Hadzhi Dimitar station.

Transit officials will establish a temporary pickup point on President Lincoln Street, approximately 25 meters from Centralna Street, for passengers traveling toward Hadzhi Dimitar. Buses will make stops exclusively at designated trolleybus and bus locations near metro facilities. Authorities expressed regret for travel disruptions while thanking riders for their patience during the technical improvements.
