Min Aung Hlaing flaunts lavish Kathina haul
Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held their 2025 communal Kathina robe offering at Anawrahta Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla led the ceremony, offering robes and alms to 27 invited monks, including senior monastic leaders from the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.
The event included traditional observances such as the recitation of the Metta Sutta and administration of the Nine Precepts by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw. Attendees viewed displays of Kathina robes and other donations before presenting them to monasteries. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing paid respects to the Buddha image and offered meals, water, oil, light and fruit. Other high-ranking military officials and their spouses also donated robes and alms.
On October 27, the offerings were transported from Anawrahta Hall to Uppatasanti Pagoda. Participating offices contributed 90 Padethabin structures and cash totaling 295,894,260 kyats, which Tatmadaw families delivered by vehicle to various monasteries.
