Ministry holds 15 livestock auctions in northern regions
Fifteen livestock auctions are scheduled across the northern communal areas this month as the government ramps up selling opportunities for communal farmers.
March auction calendar is stacked
- Three sales have already happened at Oushake, Omuntele, and Ncaute.
- Ompundja, Bravo Gate, and Nepara go live this Saturday.
- Otjetjekua and Otamanzi are lined up for 19 March.
- Amarika hosts its own auction the following day.
Late-March lineup wraps the schedule
- Otjokavare in Kunene kicks off on 25 March.
- Ndevahoma, Okatyali, and Oshifukwa close out on 28 March.
- Seven regions across the NCAs participate overall.
- Expanded facilities mean farmers travel way less.
Oushake auction set the early benchmark
- George Haufiku confirmed 34 animals went under the hammer.
- Every single animal brought to that sale found a buyer.
- The top price hit N$24,000 at that particular auction.
- Buyer scarcity remains the biggest headache for sellers.
