Mirza Abbas says BNP rejects religion-based politics
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said his party refuses to manipulate religious feelings or make empty pledges to gain votes. He accused rival groups of compromising their beliefs to satisfy foreign powers at a courtyard gathering in West Malibagh on Friday afternoon. Abbas warned that former leaders who fled after stealing national wealth remain a threat despite their absence from the country.
The politician claimed opposition forces are working with the Awami League to undermine elections because they recognize the BNP will win power. Former Dhaka South BNP organizing secretary Arifur Rahman Arif led the meeting attended by local party workers and officials. Abbas stated that enemies damaged banks and financial institutions to weaken the economy before departing Bangladesh with stolen resources.
