Modi to send Buddha relics as India, Mongolia unite
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India and Mongolia share more than diplomatic ties, highlighting their warmth and spiritual connection. He announced India will send holy relics of Buddha’s disciples, Sariputra and Maudgalyayana, to Mongolia next year. A Sanskrit teacher will also go to Gandan Monastery to help study Buddhist texts.
Modi said Nalanda University and Gandan Monastery will form a new link, and he praised a tree planting by Mongolia’s president as a symbol of friendship. India will offer free e-visas to Mongolian citizens and support visits by young cultural ambassadors. Modi welcomed Mongolia’s leader and marked 70 years of relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between the countries.
