Mutsvangwa calls for stronger Zimbabwe-China ties on women empowerment
Zimbabwe and China should work more closely to support women’s empowerment, as women are key to positive change in Africa, said Women Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa. Speaking with CGTN at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, she praised China’s efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Minister Mutsvangwa emphasized that African women are not just beneficiaries but drivers of change. She highlighted the success of the Global Leaders’ Meeting, which reviewed the 1995 Beijing Declaration.
She also noted the challenges women face due to climate change but stressed their resilience and ability to adapt. In Zimbabwe, Mutsvangwa pointed out that empowering women strengthens families, communities, and the nation, helping to achieve the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
