Myanmar and Korea explore trade, investment and e-commerce ties
Myanmar’s Trade Promotion Organization held discussions on Thursday with a South Korean research institute to expand commercial ties between the two nations. Dr Htein Lin, who leads the trade body, hosted Choi Shinil from the Korea-Myanmar Institute for Economic and Security Studies at the organization’s headquarters.
Participants examined several economic pathways during their exchange. Topics covered include prospects for shipping Myanmar farm goods to South Korea, development possibilities within the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, and methods to strengthen cultural connections alongside business relationships. The agenda also addressed digital commerce platforms linking both countries.
Officials explored how provisions under the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area could accelerate cross-border investment and merchandise flows. The meeting aimed to identify concrete steps for deepening bilateral economic engagement through multiple channels.
