Myanmar-China media ties go golden

Myanmar’s Information Minister U Maung Maung Ohn met with producers from Myanma Radio and Television and China’s Yunnan Media Group on Tuesday to discuss a joint documentary about regional cooperation. The minister highlighted how the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation framework has strengthened ties among six nations since its launch eight years ago.

The five-part series will showcase Myanmar projects supported by the partnership, including the renovation of the National Theatre in Yangon and the construction of the Dala Bridge. Film crews are capturing footage at Yangon Port and plan interviews with earthquake survivors aided by Chinese rescue workers. The 30-minute episodes will air on broadcast networks in both countries after production wraps up.

Myanmar has partnered with Chinese media organizations on multiple projects since 2008, when CCTV collaborated on a travel program about the Mekong River. Officials from both nations have attended the Twin City Media Forum in Kunming for two consecutive years to advance technical cooperation between their broadcasting industries.
