Myanmar marks 10 years of NCA peace

The 10th anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) was marked with a workshop titled “Building Peaceful Future of Myanmar” at the Jade Hall of MICC I in Nay Pyi Taw. Union Minister for Border Affairs and Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee, spoke at the event. He said the workshop aimed to review the achievements and lessons from ten years of implementing the NCA, share experiences, and promote unity and reconciliation in Myanmar.

Lt-Gen Yar Pyae emphasized that lasting peace requires trust, built through dialogue and agreements. He stressed that peace is essential for national development and stability, warning that without political stability, foreign investment may be hindered. He urged everyone to work together to reduce violence, especially as the Union Election Commission plans phased elections starting on December 28.

Lt-Gen Min Naing, Secretary of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee, explained the workshop’s agenda. Experts from India, Thailand, and Indonesia discussed regional connectivity, trade, and the peace process, along with non-traditional security threats and post-conflict reconstruction. Afterward, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae presented gifts to the experts. The workshop will continue on October 16, with the ideas shared being applied in the peace and development efforts of Myanmar.
