Myanmar minister highlights disaster response at China summit
Dr. Soe Win, Myanmar’s Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, attended the 2025 Council Meeting and Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management in Hainan, China. At the event’s opening on November 6, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqiang welcomed delegates and addressed the attendees. Discussions focused on national disaster risk reduction policies. Dr. Soe Win highlighted Myanmar’s ongoing efforts aligned with global frameworks and acknowledged international support, particularly after the Mandalay earthquake. He also emphasized the integration of modern technologies in disaster management.
On November 7, Dr. Win participated in a session on emergency response, sharing Myanmar’s experiences with legal frameworks and international coordination during the earthquake. The conference concluded with a joint communiqué and a group photo.
