Naeem Islam’s century puts Rangpur in control

Rangpur Division built an 87-run advantage over Dhaka Division with two wickets remaining after Naeem Islam scored an unbeaten century on Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in the National Cricket League.

Naeem struck 111 runs from 221 deliveries with 16 boundaries for his 34th first-class hundred after Dhaka made 221 runs in their opening innings. The middle-order batsman added 88 runs with Tanvir Hayder, who contributed 45, to push Rangpur from a first-day deficit of 156 runs to a commanding position.

Abdullah Al Mamun made 37 runs while Abu Hasim and Alauddin Babu scored 28 and 21 respectively for Rangpur. Dhaka bowler Ripon Mondol captured three wickets for 54 runs as Salauddin Sakil and Taibur Rahman each took two wickets.
