Nazaryan defends coalition, talks rotation plan

Politics owes nobody anything, GERB Deputy Speaker Raya Nazaryan told bTV. She said GERB, ITN, and MRF-New Beginning are back rotating the National Assembly Speaker position, awaiting BSP approval following internal discussions. Coalition partners agreed to add the rotation mechanism to their governing agreement.

Nazaryan led a parliament without majority support and said coalition governance requires balancing party priorities with partner interests. The Pazardzhik election results prompted coalition reformulation talks, during which members spoke candidly about errors and decisions. GERB prioritized securing a stable majority backing.

Ministries isolated themselves, implementing programs rather than receiving special concessions, Nazaryan said after resolving the matter through discussions. Borisov wanted stronger coalition bonds given the dynamic circumstances. MRF-New Beginning supports the majority but declined to accept National Assembly governing body positions to prevent tensions, despite constitutional eligibility.

President Rumen Radev copied Borisov by selecting similar vehicles, suggesting admiration for the GERB leader, Nazaryan added. She said Radev seeks engagement with the head of the largest party.
