NCP demands legal framework before signing July Charter
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced it will not sign the July Charter unless three specific conditions are met. NCP convener Nahid Islam stated that signing the charter without a proper legal framework would make it meaningless.
During a press briefing at the party’s temporary office, the NCP outlined its demands for signing the charter. These include:
- The draft implementation order for the July Charter must be made public before the signing ceremony.
- The order must be issued by Prof Muhammad Yunus, acting as chief adviser, in line with the “sovereign will of the people.”
- The legitimacy of the July Charter must be based on the July popular uprising.
The NCP stressed that these conditions are vital to ensure the charter’s legal validity and alignment with the public mandate.
