NCP proposes reforms to PSC over BCS process

The National Citizen Party delivered a 15-point plan to the Public Service Commission on Sunday, addressing problems with the current Bangladesh Civil Service examinations. Southern Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah accused the Public Administration Ministry of mishandling job recruitment and ignoring unemployed graduates after meeting with commission Chairman Mobasser Monem.

Abdullah said bureaucrats gained the most from recent political changes but created no strategy for jobless university graduates. He claimed ministry officials waste six months moving files between desks without action. The party leader noted that a June 19 request for 430 positions in the 44th BCS exam remained unresolved five months after the results were announced.

The proposals seek faster hiring for non-cadre positions, transparent publication of scores, and completion of each exam cycle within 1 year. Other recommendations include reducing interview score gaps between evaluation boards and finishing background checks within 30 days. Abdullah praised the commission’s commitment but said the ministry must change service regulations.

The party wants candidates to access their complete score records online and demands equal treatment across all testing boards through standardized assessment criteria.
