NCP undecided on signing July National Charter over implementation concerns
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has not yet decided whether to sign the July National Charter, according to Member-Secretary Akhtar Hossain. He said the party is carefully reviewing its position, expressing concerns over unclear implementation issues. The NCP has set conditions, requesting a clear roadmap for the charter’s implementation, including the referendum process and its inclusion in the future constitution.
Hossain also raised concerns about unresolved issues, such as the definition of “note of dissent” and the order for implementing the charter. The NCP suggested naming the order either the “July Charter Implementation Order” or the “Constitutional Reform Order,” to be issued by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus. The party emphasized the need for clear constitutional reforms before proceeding.
