Olaitan expresses regret after Benin Republic’s World Cup exit

Benin Republic midfielder Junior Olaitan expressed his disappointment after the team failed to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Cheetahs lost 4-0 to the Super Eagles in their final group game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, ending their hopes of qualifying for the tournament for the first time.

Olaitan admitted the team felt they had let their country down but assured fans that things would improve in the future. The Goztepe midfielder added that the team would now focus on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December.
