OSCE chair Elina Valtonen fined for protest in Tbilisi
Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, who leads the OSCE, was fined for joining an unauthorized protest in Tbilisi, Georgia. The protest was part of ongoing demonstrations in the country. Georgian officials accused Western nations of supporting these protests to weaken the ruling party.
Valtonen, who was visiting Georgia as part of her OSCE duties, was fined $1,850 for blocking the road. After joining the protest, she criticized Georgia’s political direction. The Georgian government called her actions illegal and canceled a meeting with her.
