Pakistani forces kill 34 terrorists in KP operations

Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have killed 34 terrorists linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij in multiple operations, according to a statement from the military’s media wing on Thursday. The operations, conducted between 13-15 October, took place in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Bannu districts.

In North Waziristan’s Spinwam area, security forces killed 18 terrorists following an intense firefight. Another operation in South Waziristan resulted in eight terrorists being neutralized, and a third in Bannu killed eight more terrorists.

The military is continuing sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists. The operations are part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam.” Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the military’s efforts, calling the operations a source of national pride.

The operations come amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with concerns over terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil, including the TTP, which has received support from the Taliban government.
