Palgrave Boakye-Danquah dismisses Alan Kyerematen’s United Party
A senior New Patriotic Party figure predicted the collapse of Alan Kyerematen’s newly formed United Party, saying the political organization lacks electoral viability in Ghana. Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah argued the former Trade and Industry Minister should have rejoined the NPP after his weak performance in the 2024 elections rather than establishing a separate entity.
Kyerematen launched the United Party on Thursday, Oct. 16, describing it as a centrist movement rooted in the Busia-Danquah-Dombo tradition. Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, Oct. 20, Boakye-Danquah dismissed the party’s prospects, comparing its trajectory to that of the struggling Convention People’s Party.
The NPP member said Kyerematen should use the post-election period to reconcile with his former party, bringing his supporters back to assist rebuilding efforts. Boakye-Danquah suggested the politician still embodies NPP values, noting the United Party’s ideology closely mirrors the opposition organization’s core principles.
