PNO promises peace, development and unity in 2025 election

The Pa-O National Organization will field 51 candidates across 29 constituencies in Shan State during Myanmar’s 2025 general election under the campaign message of voting for the Dragon to secure peace and development. Central Executive Committee member Nang Yi Yi Win announced that 59 percent of their nominees fall under the age of 40, while women comprise 20 percent of the slate, reflecting efforts to boost youth and female representation in politics.

Established in 2010 following a conference attended by Pa-O leaders from multiple states and regions, the party won all 10 seats it contested that year and secured 10 of 11 races in 2015. Between elections, the organization participated in nationwide ceasefire negotiations, organized political dialogues and pursued constitutional reforms while supporting infrastructure projects spanning roads, bridges, schools and medical facilities.

Party priorities through 2030 emphasize federal democracy, interethnic harmony, economic development and cultural preservation for Pa-O communities and neighboring groups. The organization pledged to create employment opportunities for young people, advance technology-based enterprises with minimal environmental impact and ensure Special Region 6 residents live securely. Most candidates hold university degrees in various disciplines.
