Political tensions rise as Peevski seeks influence in Bulgaria’s government
Sociologist Evelina Slavkova from Trend said on Friday that Delyan Peevski attempted to secure cabinet positions for his ministers but failed after coalition partners rejected the proposal. She believes Peevski used a photograph with Borisov to demonstrate MRF-New Beginning’s influence in Bulgarian politics despite the setback.
Alpha Research analyst Genoveva Petrova warned that political tensions remain unresolved between governing parties. She suggested Peevski has emerged as a new power broker alongside Borisov, fundamentally altering the balance of authority within the coalition government.
Both researchers assessed that the BSP and ITN have faded from prominence after joining the administration. Slavkova predicted these parties will avoid triggering elections because they recognize the difficulty of returning to power, while Petrova observed their leaders face declining public confidence.
Slavkova expects additional government crises ahead as coalition disputes continue. Petrova described the situation as a theatrical weapon, ready to discharge at an unpredictable moment.
