Cornelia Ninova blasts government over Lukoil crisis
Cornelia Ninova has condemned the government’s response to sanctions targeting Lukoil, calling those in power scandalously ignorant. The leader of Unruly Bulgaria stated on BNT that Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov should face questioning from the prosecutor general for allegedly breaking the Oil Reserves Act, which mandates a 90-day supply buffer.
Ninova argued that current officials lack practical economic experience and pose a bigger danger to national security than the Lukoil sanctions themselves. She urged Bulgaria to request an extension similar to Germany’s approach, noting that Lukoil ranks among the country’s top five taxpayers and warning that authorities need a concrete strategy moving forward.
