Borisov predicts higher revenue, warns of looming war
GERB leader Boyko Borisov projects increased revenue for Bulgaria’s first eurozone budget and promises no tax hikes. He defends his alliance with DPS – New Beginning, noting that GERB, BSP and ITN hold only 100 reliable votes after defections, falling short of the 121 needed for governing. PP-DB declared firm opposition, leaving the coalition with no alternative partners.
Borisov dismisses criticism of his partnership with Peevski’s faction, saying the group has pledged support for measures that benefit citizens. He anticipates over one billion euros more for pensions and 1.2 billion euros additional for wages. The prime minister welcomes US sanctions on Russian oil but expects the government to resolve supply issues before the one-month deadline expires.
Borisov expressed serious concern about potential war, particularly if Trump and Putin fail to reach an agreement after November 21. He stated he fears approaching conflict more than any political rival or domestic threat. Borisov made these remarks while attending a GERB youth regional academy event.
