Elenite holiday village water still undrinkable
Water at the Elenite holiday village remains unsafe for consumption, according to recent testing by regional health inspectors. Samples collected on Tuesday, Oct. 22, revealed excessive levels of coliform bacteria and enterococci, while the taste failed to meet acceptable standards.
Health officials in Burgas have advised residents to avoid using tap water for drinking or cooking, and to use it only for household tasks. Authorities plan to conduct follow-up testing on Sunday, Oct. 27, to reassess water quality.
The contamination stems from severe flooding that struck the area on Friday, Oct. 3. Initial tests detected Escherichia coli bacteria in the water supply. The government distributed bottled water from state reserves to affected residents, who have endured more than three weeks without potable tap water.
