Priya Kapur’s will faces scrutiny in Delhi HC
The Delhi High Court hearing over the property dispute of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur took a dramatic turn on Wednesday. Priya Kapur’s counsel, Rajiv Nayar, struggled to defend a Will full of inconsistencies, and Justice Jyoti Singh sharply questioned his arguments. Nayar focused on procedural objections, claiming Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, hadn’t formally challenged the Will. Justice Singh dismantled this defense, pointing out that the children hadn’t even been given a copy of the Will, only hearing it read out to them.
The disputed Will, signed just days before Sunjay’s death, contained glaring errors and was accused of being forged. Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, argued that the mistakes were signs of forgery, intended to exclude Sunjay’s own family. The children seek one-fifth of the estate, claiming their legal rights as heirs and accusing Priya of manipulating the Will to seize the entire property.
