Chhattisgarh records major Maoist surrender in Sukma

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the surrender of 27 active Maoists in Sukma district as a major blow to Naxalism, marking a new era of trust and development in the Bastar region. The surrendered Maoists, including a high-ranking member from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, cited disillusionment with Maoist ideology and internal atrocities as reasons for their defection. Sai credited the success to the state’s Naxalite Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy 2025 and the Niyad Nella Naar scheme, which have fostered trust among locals and expanded security.

He lauded the bravery of security forces, including the Chhattisgarh Police and CRPF, for their role in achieving this turning point. Each surrendered individual received financial aid and will undergo rehabilitation. Sai also reaffirmed the commitment to a Naxal-free India by March 31, 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Shah. The surge in surrenders, with 78 Maoists across Bastar, reflects the growing success of the government’s multi-faceted approach, combining security measures with compassionate rehabilitation.
