Protesters torch Nizam Uddin Hazari house in Feni

Demonstrators torched portions of suspended Awami League official Nizam Uddin Hazari’s residence in Feni following the tribunal verdict sentencing Sheikh Hasina to death for crimes against humanity. Protesters ignited wooden materials at the property’s entrance in Masterpara while demanding accountability for the former legislator and district party secretary, though authorities prevented entry into the building that had suffered destruction during previous attacks.

Students Against Discrimination representatives criticized local officials for inadequate prosecution of earlier arsons targeting memorials honoring victims from the July uprising. The demonstrators called for expedited legal proceedings against Hazari and another local Awami League leader named Shushen, comparable to the international tribunal’s handling of cases against the ousted prime minister and her home minister. Police extinguished flames that caused minor damage to the gate, restoring order after the incident.
