Quest Motors to begin vehicle production with local parts next month

Quest Motor Manufacturing in Mutare will receive equipment next month to produce 180 vehicles. The government is supporting local production to reduce imports and boost the economy. Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu said that starting next year, all government ministries will prioritize buying locally made goods.

Quest Motor’s general manager, Carl Fernandes, confirmed that the company will begin vehicle production with Chinese partners. They plan to produce the JAC T9 double cab and Foton Tunland V9 models. The company has a long history of working with Chinese firms, and Chinese products are growing in popularity in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Minister Ndlovu also praised Mega Market for reaching full production capacity and Wattle Company for increasing its value-added timber products. Wattle Company now produces plywood, which has helped boost its production.
