Rashmika on Thamma joy not expectations

Actress Rashmika Mandanna said she avoids setting high expectations for her film projects after audiences responded positively to her horror comedy Thamma. The movie earned 25.11 crore rupees on its opening day and collected 57.63 crore rupees within four days across India. Mandanna said she feels relief rather than triumph when viewers enjoy her work after a release.

Director Aditya Sarpotdar helmed the production, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Mandanna, in a fictional setting. The film connects to Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya through a crossover element. Mandanna credited the success of Thamma and similar entries in the Maddock series to their foundation in traditional Indian stories.

She said families appreciate seeing folklore they recognize from their heritage brought to the screen. Parents confirm they heard these tales while younger viewers discover them for the first time. The shared cultural knowledge helps different generations connect with the material and celebrate it together.
