Reserve Bank of Malawi suspends major procurements amid governance vacuum
The Reserve Bank of Malawi has suspended all major procurements until further notice. The Bank’s Procurement Chairperson has informed all suppliers, contractors, and service providers about the suspension.
This applies to new tender requests, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), contract negotiations, and ongoing procurement of goods, services, and works.
The suspension is thought to aim at ensuring clarity in the Bank’s processes, with updates expected once the suspension is lifted. The move comes amid concerns over potential irregularities following the recent dissolution of boards in government parastatals.
