Rizvi warns of dark horse entry if democracy disrupted in Bangladesh
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi warned that any disruption in the democratic process could lead to the rise of a “dark horse,” worsening the political situation in Bangladesh. He criticized the promotion of the proportional representation (PR) system, calling it “unrealistic and misleading.” Rizvi argued that in most developed democracies like the UK and the US, people vote directly for their representatives, questioning why PR is suddenly being pushed. He also cautioned that introducing the PR system before the national election could confuse voters, as many are unfamiliar with it. Rizvi emphasized the urgent need for the election to be held soon to address the country’s worsening political and economic crises.
