RM300 million for lift upgrades at Kuala Lumpur PPRs under Budget 2026
Lift maintenance and upgrades at People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in Kuala Lumpur will begin once Budget 2026 is approved, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Pantai Dalam, DBKL has been tasked with speeding up lift replacement projects, with RM300 million allocated for the work.
Fahmi explained that the lift replacement process typically takes six to nine months but expects work to start soon after procurement is completed, aiming to have faulty lifts replaced by next year. He also discussed plans to improve over 2,000 stalls and shops in Kuala Lumpur, with RM200 million allocated for upgrades.
Regarding Budget 2026, Fahmi noted public support for the government’s focus on savings and transparent financial management. He also addressed employment issues for delivery workers outside the gig economy, asking the Association of Malaysian Express Carriers to work with the government on solutions.
Additionally, Fahmi highlighted the Deepavali contribution ceremony, where over 1,200 families in Lembah Pantai will receive RM150 vouchers.
